About Us
“Bulgarian Roots and Children” is an educational and cultural project of the Studio S Foundation, created with a mission to keep the Bulgarian language, culture and values alive among children growing up outside of Bulgaria – with a particular focus on families in the United States. The project in America is managed by Snejanka Stoyanova-Guigova
The project is a response to the growing need of Bulgarian immigrant communities to preserve the connection between generations, language and cultural identity. Life in America provides Bulgarian children with many opportunities for development, but often this integration occurs at the expense of linguistic and cultural belonging. We believe that it is possible for children to be both successful American citizens and proud bearers of their Bulgarian roots.
Our project creates value for the Bulgarian diaspora in America through:
- Books in Bulgarian – suitable for different ages, with carefully selected topics such as virtues, folk tales, myths and cultural traditions.
- Educational programs and workshops – both online and in person, focusing on the Bulgarian language, literature, art, and history.
- Creative resources and activities – that promote emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, and personal development in children.
- Community building – through which Bulgarian families in America can connect, exchange experiences, and create lasting bonds based on shared cultural belonging.
Our mission
To inspire Bulgarian children in America and around the world to be proud of their roots, to speak the language of their parents fluently, and to build their identity with respect for both cultures – American and Bulgarian.
To provide parents with the necessary tools, resources, and support to instill in their children not only linguistic and cultural literacy, but also solid emotional, moral, and creative foundations.
The Bulgarian Roots and Children project is not just an educational initiative. It is a bridge – between the past and the future, between Bulgaria and the new homes of Bulgarian children around the world, between generations who want to remember and pass on.
For us, the greatest reward is to see a child in America reading a story in Bulgarian, drawing a martenitsa with love, or telling their classmates about a Bulgarian holiday – with pride, joy, and understanding.
